There were a plethora of great R&B divas in the 90s. The all time great R&B female artists and girl groups of the 90′s include SWV, TLC, Aaliyah, Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill, Monica, Faith Evans, and Tony Braxton. Of course, the lists goes on and on, but these rock divas were the best. They were the best of them all. Also, no one can deny the sensational Whitney Houston who was the best of the best. She was the best in the pop, soul, and rock genres of music.
The 90s was a wonderful time when music was more musical. Music was fresh, new, unique, and innovative. Even the styles and dancing were different. Music during that time period was still full of artistry and creativity. With that being said, a lot of fans feel like this time period was the great era of great music.
R&B divas-The Show
Last year, a show was aired called “R&B Divas”. This show kicked off successfully last year. Viewers tuned in weekly to view some of the best soul divas of the 90′s, and they were shown on TV One. Even people who don’t even care for reality shows couldn’t help but to tune into watching these fabulous soul sisters. Nicci Gilbert-Daniels and Faith Evans were co-producers for the first season. Also, the cast consisted of Faith Evans, Syleena Johnson, Monifah, Nicci Gilbert-Daniels, and Keke Wyatt. In this show, they touched on different aspects of their professional and personal lives, and the balancing act surrounding all of this.
As a result, the viewers were very astounded over the show. They fell deeply in love
with it. The show has proven to be a great success, as a result the TV show is lining up for a second season.
Now, there are several rumors afloat concerning possible new casts members and a possible new location. Several sources have reported that Angie Stone would be joining season two. So, while season one’s episode was great, R&B fans are really looking forward to the upcoming season. With Angie Stone being on this one, everyone is very excited with this revelation, and they are anxiously awaiting for the show to air. Faith Evans, however, is not scheduled to return. So, rumor has it that Sunshine Anderson would be the other replacement. These are the rumors as of the end of November 2012.
The latest news came out a few days ago concerning these Hip Hop divas’ show. The update for this show is as follows: Starting this month, the season would show the production of an album in Atlanta with all of the original cast. So, Faith Evans, Syleena Johnson, Monifah, Nicci Gilbert-Daniels, and Keke Wyatt would still be on it. Then there will be a spinoff series that is scheduled to be in Los Angeles later on in the year, but the cast is still unknown for the spinoff. Both great segments are scheduled to run for eight weeks each.
Conclusion of the R&B Music of the 90′s
The R&B music of the 90′s was great music that was filled with so much creativity, artistry, style, and delivery. This time period is to many fans the last period of real music. There were a plethora of great R&B artists rather male or female. Some of the best female R&B artists were SWV, TLC, Aaliyah, Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill, Monica, Faith Evans, and Tony Braxton. Whitney Houston was the absolute best of them all.
The show concerning the soul divas of the 90′s came out last year, and it was a huge success. It was such a great success that season two is now underway. The cast for season one includes the original cast. Faith Evans and Nicci Gilbert-Daniels were the season’s one co-producers.
For the second season, there are a variety of rumors. As the end of November 2012, rumors were that Faith Evans and Nicci Gilbert-Daniels were not returning for this upcoming season. Now rumors are that all the original casts would be on, but there are other changes. Whatever they choose, fans are thrilled of the brand new season.
